| N8RCQ/SK – 1/20/56 - 8/24/11 Dean Robert Harrison, N8RCQ, 55, of Naples, Florida, passed away Wednesday,August 24, 2011,after a two month battle with cancer. Dean was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Mary Lou (Collis) and Robert Harrison. They lived in Coloma, Michigan until Dean was about 12 then moving to nearby Sister Lakes. Dean graduated from Dowagiac Union High School in 1975. He attended Elkhart Area Career Center, Elkhart, Indiana and earned acertificate in Heating, A/C and Refrigeration. He attained several certificates in electronics. Dean married Charlotte (Foster) Bradford on September 8, 2001 in Sister Lakes. In 2010 they moved to Naples, Florida. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte and two stepsons: Scotty Bradford of Grass Lake, Michigan and Timothy Bradford of Sister Lakes, plus a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father in 1998 and mother in 2008. Dean was Assistant Emergency Coordinator for Berrien Amateur Radio Emergency Services, Berrien County, Michigan; head of the Berrien County Chapter of the American Red Cross Amateur Radio Communications Group; member of Blossomland Amateur Radio Association, St. Joseph; and Black River Amateur Radio Club, Bangor. He was also an Advanced Skywarn Weather Spotter for Berrien and Van Buren Counties. He had been an Amateur Radio Operator since 1991 advancing to a General Class License in 2008. |
