| The
.82 repeater has faithfully served the hams of Berrien County and
beyond for many years. Unfortunately, the equipment is aging and has
become difficult to maintain and repair. Recently there was
increased noise in the receiver and lower power output from the
transmitter. It was time for a new machine. By the initiative of BARA member Jack, W8KBQ, it was possible to purchase a new Vertex/Standard VXR-7000 repeater at cost. All that was needed now was to raise the funds, approximately $1070. Through the generosity of many Hams in the area, the necessary funds were quickly raised. The new machine was put into operation on October 5, 2010. A big thank you to all who made the new machine a reality. Ron N8KBG, President Blossomland Amateur Radio Association |
