The
.82 repeater has faithfully served the hams of Berrien County and
beyond for many years. Unfortunately, the equipment is aging and has
become difficult to maintain and repair. Recently we have seen
increased noise in the receiver and lower power output from the
transmitter. It's time for a new machine.
A member of BARA,
Jack, W8KBQ, approached his employer, HEI Wireless, about BARA's need
for a new repeater. The owner of HEI has offered to sell us a new
repeater at his cost. The unit we are looking at is a Vertex/Standard
VXR-7000, which costs around $1050 (HEI's cost).
We need to
raise the funds in order to purchase the VXR-7000. There are not
sufficient funds in the BARA treasury to make such an expenditure.
Therefore we are asking for donations. BARA is a 501(c)(3) charitable
